Serving Opportunities

We appreciate our volunteers at LvCC because we know ministry and mission take a lot of willing servants! Getting involved by serving is a great way to connect with others in our congregation, whether you're brand new or have been around for years. The ministry opportunities listed here vary in levels of ability required and time commitment. Look them over, check any that are of interest, and someone will follow up to give you more info and get you connected!

Community Kids

Pre-K and Kindergarten Class Volunteer: Sunday for about 40 minutes during Worship, once every 4-6 weeks. When kids are released during service, you would lead them to their classroom, pray and feed a snack to them. There is no prep for this class- an age appropriate video teaching will be used, and then you and another volunteer would facilitate a few questions with them, then play with them until pick up.
Elementary Class Volunteer: Sunday for about 40 minutes during Worship , once every 4-6 weeks. When kids (1st grade-5th grade) are released during service, you would lead them to their classroom, pray, get to know how their weeks have been, and facilitate a snack. They also have a video teaching, and you and another volunteer would help facilitate small group discussion questions. Kids are then allowed their choice of games or crafts until end of service.
Substitute Nursery Volunteer: Assists with childcare for kids 3 and under. Volunteers will help give snacks, assist during bible story, read books, play with, and love on little ones during the service. This position would just be occasional if one of the nursery workers is sick or out of town.
Occasional Special Event Volunteer: We love to host special events for our kids, and our neighboring families! We host things such as movie nights, ā€œParents’ Night Outā€, pumpkin carving party, Christmas party, and larger summer events. Many of these events would be more during weeknights instead of Sundays. You would be contacted by about upcoming events and how you can plug in. Takes varying amounts of time; some events are 3-4 hours, some are more like 2 hours. This opportunity is much more fluid with the time commitment but you can let us know what YOU can do.

Community Partners Team

This team team meets every other month for 1 1/2 to 2 hours to oversee the finances and maintenance of Sylvan Lodge, a LvCC-owned apartment building for disabled residents. They also have a couple work parties each year to do seasonal yard maintenance at the property.

Meetups are the first and third Tuesday of the month October-May from 9-11am. You may volunteer for one or both weeks, or be oncall as a substitute. A current background check will be required to work with children (LvCC will pay for and process this).

Lay Counselors

The mission of the Lay Counseling Center is to bear one another's burdens, and so complete the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2). They serve people in our community by sharing Christ's love through caring hearts, listening ears, and compassionate support. Those interested in joining the team of counselors participate in an extensive training followed by close supervision of a mental health professional.
